10 Cool Instagram Hacks to Help You Get the Most Out of It

If you are a newbie in the Instagram world, or just want to learn more tricks this is the place to be. Instagram has some tricks that are not so well known to help you get more out of it. Using the Instagram hacks below will give you a better experience and help you take your own Instagram to the next level.

1. Bio Fonts

Adding special fonts to your bio will make your profile stand out from the rest. Doing it from the app limits you to only being able to use the emojis on your keyboard. Thanks to some third party websites you can add some more flavor to your bio.

From your cell phone, open a font site like LingoJam and type what you want your bio to say. As you type you will see the bio written in different fonts on the right-hand side. Highlight the font you like and select “copy” then head to your bio on Instagram and “paste” the font in the space available.

If you’re working from a desktop or laptop you can use the same site and use the same method of copying and pasting on your Instagram bio.

2. Scheduler

This is great to do if you have a lot going on every day and don’t want to think about Instagram but want to keep it alive. There are scheduling programs you can use such as Buffer and HubSpot where you can choose the pictures you want to post at a later date and time and schedule them. Here is a great time to choose times that will give your pictures the most views.

With Instagram, you will have to switch to a business profile under settings so that the scheduler can schedule for you. If not then the scheduler will send you a reminder to post at the time you choose which won’t make it automatic.

3. Hide Old Posts Instead of Deleting

If you’re giving your Instagram a makeover and you have some pics that don’t fit with the look you’re going for you can hide the pictures instead. Tap the three dots for the post you want to remove and select “Archive.” This will hide the pictures instead of deleting them.

4. Portrait Mode

This is great if you want a professional looking shot but don’t have a DSLR. While you’re in Instagram stories switch over the “Focus” mode and it will blur the background of the picture. It will mimic professional looking pics.

5. Sharing

If you find content you love on someone else’s profile you can share it on your story with your audience. When you find a post you want to share click the arrow underneath the post and select “Add post to your story.” From here you can add text, stickers, and hashtags before adding it to your own story.

6. Notifications

When you find someone that you love their content you can choose to never miss a post from them. Go to their profile page and tap the three dots in the upper-right hand corner and select “Turn on post notifications.”

If in the future you decide you don’t want to get their notifications you can follow the same steps and choose to turn them off.

7. Explore Tab

Using the explore tab is a great way to grow your audience. You can find the explore page by clicking the magnifying glass that shows you a type of browsing page. There are different topics and keywords there such as “fashion,” “fitness,” etc.

When you use hashtags it makes it easier for your profile to show up in the explore tab for others to find you.

This is a new feature on Instagram that stands for Instagram TV. You are able to upload videos longer than 60 seconds and create a channel. Once you create your channel you can upload videos from your camera roll straight to your channel for others to find your videos and follow you if they want to keep watching what you upload.

9. Hashtags

Adding hashtags to your post will boost your engagement but when you bunch them up next to your caption it will look like a mess. Simple fix to add your hashtags is to add symbols on separate lines after the caption. For example, hit enter and type your symbol of choice such as the asterisk and hit enter again and put the same symbol again.

Repeat this a couple of times until the hashtags are away from the caption.

10. Sneak Peak of Instagram Story

You can tease your audience and motivate them to go check out your profile by sharing only a piece of your Instagram story pic. When you go to add a story to your profile will pick a picture or take a picture, and then tap the pen icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and choose any color. After you select your color, tap and hold the screen for a few seconds until the screen is filled with that color.

Once the entire picture is covered with the color you chose, select the eraser and the size you want and swipe the areas of the screen to reveal certain parts of the picture. This will only show the pieces you choose and then you can direct them to check out your new posts. This is a great tease and a great way to move from your stories to your profile.
